SUZUKI SWIFT SUPER 1600 CLAIMS THREE SUCCESSIVE VICTORIES IN 2007 JRC

At the first round of the Junior Rally Championship (JRC) in Norway 16-18 February, two "Yellow Bullet" Suzuki Swift Super 1600s won 16 out of 18 stages in sub-zero temperatures. P-G Andersson claimed victory and team-mate Urmo Aava finished third despite mechanical difficulties.

On gravel the next round in Portugal, 30 March through 1 April, Andersson also took first, with Aava in second, although Aava led until a puncture on the final day. Suzuki Swifts won every stage, underlining the team's dominance in tough conditions. So Andersson took the Championship lead, while Aava moved up to a second. Neither car had mechanical problems during the 1000-kilometre rally.

In the third round of the JRC season - the Rally d'Italia-Sardinia held 18-20 May - the Swift Super 1600s started first and second. Urmo Aava took an 8-second lead over team-mate Andersson and led the second leg of this grueling race. The Suzuki cars showed incredible speed and marked top times in all stages of the race, over rough and rocky gravel roads, even though Aava hit a tree on day two and P-G dropped out to have a puncture repaired. Aava claimed his first victory in the JRC, while Andersson took second. Both Suzuki drivers finished more than five minutes ahead of their closest rivals.
